A comforting, savory treat that’s both easy to make and utterly satisfying. Warm, flaky biscuits filled with tender, seasoned beef and melty cheese, all dipped into a rich and flavorful beef broth.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 pound roast beef, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until the dough just comes together.
Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out onto it. Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness, then cut out squares or circles.
Place half of the cut-out biscuit pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Layer each with sliced roast beef and a sprinkle of provolone cheese. Top with the remaining biscuit pieces and press the edges to seal.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
While the biscuits are baking, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder in a saucepan and heat until warmed through.
Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with the dipping sauce.
