This indulgent, cheesy chili dip is a Midwest comfort food classic that brings together the unique flavors of Cincinnati-style chili with the creamy richness of cheese.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound Ground beef
1 medium Onion, chopped
2 cloves Garlic, minced
2 tablespoons Chili powder
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Allspice
1 tablespoon Cocoa powder
8 ounces Tomato sauce
8 ounces Cream cheese, softened
1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
As needed Tortilla chips or crackers (for serving)
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, sautéing for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
Stir in the chili powder, cinnamon, allspice, and cocoa powder, cooking for a minute until fragrant.
Pour in the tomato sauce, mixing well. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and half of the shredded cheddar cheese until smooth.
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into a 9-inch baking dish.
Layer the chili mixture over the cream cheese layer, then top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Remove from the oven and garnish with sliced green onions before serving with tortilla chips or crackers.
