These delightful treats are not only a sweet indulgence but also a comforting reminder of childhood mornings spent at the local bakery.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups All-purpose flour
3/4 cup Granulated sugar
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
1/2 cup Milk
1 large Egg
1/4 cup Unsalted butter, melted
as needed Vegetable oil (for frying)
1/2 cup Granulated sugar (for coating)
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Whisk together until well blended.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until fully combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine for a fluffy donut batter.
If using a donut pan, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the donut pan lightly with cooking spray.
Fill each donut cavity about 2/3 full with the batter. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. (For deep-fried donuts, heat oil in a deep skillet to 365°F (185°C) and carefully drop in spoonfuls of batter, frying until golden brown.)
While the donuts are baking or frying, prepare the cinnamon-sugar coating by mixing 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
Once the donuts are done, let them cool for a minute before coating them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Gently roll or sprinkle the donuts until they are fully covered.
Serve warm and enjoy your delicious cinnamon sugar donuts!
