Ingredients
Scale:
- 1 pound Ground beef
- 1 medium Onion, chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 Green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 small head Cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup Rice (uncooked, white or brown)
- 28 ounces Tomato sauce
- 1 cup Beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup Shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, and green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to the Crockpot.
- Layer the chopped cabbage over the beef mixture.
- Sprinkle the uncooked rice over the cabbage.
- In a separate bowl, mix the tomato sauce, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the casserole.
- Cover the Crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the rice is cooked.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top during the last 15 minutes of cooking, allowing it to melt.
