This Easy Cornbread Stuffing Recipe is not just another holiday side dish; it’s a celebration of flavors that will elevate your Thanksgiving dinner to new heights.
Ingredients
Scale:
4 cups Homemade cornbread, crumbled
1/2 cup Unsalted butter
1 medium Onion, finely chopped
2 stalks Celery, finely chopped
2 cloves Garlic, minced
2 cups Chicken or vegetable broth
2 tablespoons Fresh sage, chopped
1 tablespoon Fresh thyme, chopped
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
1 cup Optional: cooked sausage, crumbled
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, sautéing until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, until fragrant.
In a large bowl, combine the crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. If using, add the cooked sausage at this point.
Pour in the broth gradually, mixing gently until the cornbread is moistened but not soggy. Adjust the amount of broth based on your desired stuffing consistency.
Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
