  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced zucchini on the bottom.
  6. Spread half of the meat mixture over the zucchini, followed by another layer of the remaining zucchini. Top with the rest of the meat mixture.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving to allow the layers to set.
