A quick and delicious dinner that packs a ton of flavor. This dish is a fantastic introduction to Korean cuisine, showcasing tender slices of marinated beef cooked swiftly to retain their juiciness and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale:
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste), or more to taste
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup onion, sliced
1 cup bell pepper, sliced
2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Cooked rice or lettuce leaves (for serving)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, gochujang, and sesame seeds until well combined.
Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Add the marinated beef to the pan in a single layer and cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned.
Once the beef is cooked, add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet still vibrant.
Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped green onions, and serve hot over cooked rice or wrapped in lettuce leaves.
